Zune... you lose.

Well, the first generation of the Zune media device from Microsoft has fallen short of sales expectations as witnessed on MSNBC (you'd think they would police the spin a little).

That's not entirely surprising. It is a little late into a market controlled with an iron fist by Apple's iPod. I happen to have an iPod and lusted over a few of the features the Zune has (larger, clearer screen and built-in radio tuner for example) but not nearly enough to forsake my beloved iPod for it. Apparently that's what most consumers believed. According to that new clip from MSNBC above shoppers are "ignoring the Zune."

That's tough to do. It's everywhere. In EB Games and Gamestop they have their own ginormous displays chucked full of accessories.

As I mentioned in a previous blog; however, the Zune is generation 1. Microsoft is used to losing money at first, only to work its way to the top later in product's lifespan.
