It's a done deal...

... Ice's new iMac is being built as we speak! What should it's name be?

I purchased the iMac I've already dedicated three blogs to tonight. I feel a bit like an expectant father. I went ridiculously all out on this thing:

I also picked up a 1TB Time Capsule Router/Back-up Hard Drive.

This is a BEAST of a Mac. Heck, with these specs it'd be a beast of a Windows machine as well. Short of spending $6000 on a Mac Pro you can't do much better than this. I shall bow before the power of Leopard under 4GB's of RAM each morning and pray that it continues to humor me by allowing me to use it as it folds, solves famine, and creates world peace with it's spare processing might.

Now I'm scouting Amazon for an audio interface for Logic and Garageband. I had one that was working with Garageband but I gave it away because it would only record my guitar input in the left stereo so everything I recorded only came out of the left speaker when played back. Like I mentioned in a previous blog, it's difficult to find salespeople in my area who are familiar with pro audio recording on a Mac, but I made an appointment (yes you have to do that) to talk to one next Monday so I hope he's able to recommend something that doesn't break the bank for an interface.

Surprisingly, this fully configured Mac cost me just over $2500. God bless my company's employee purchase program.

I also discovered that I can score a full copy of Logic Studio (should I need to) for just $369 with our EPP. I'm pretty hyped about that because it puts it even more within reach should I not be able to get the results I'm looking for out of Logic Express.

At any rate, I'm going to hop over and see if they've begun boxing any of it yet. The order form said it would take 1-3 days to ship and I paid for 2-3 day shipping so, weekends included I hope to see it by the 7th or 8th. I'll post a new blog from it once it's here.

SOOOOO... like every great thing in my life, the new iMac needs a name! I usually bestow "Damian" as the title of all great things in my life (Damian was the name of my first love... how sappy). But, I've decided to go out on a limb and let my friends put in their thoughts. What should I name my iMac?

Would you fight Chuck Norris...

...for a free iPhone?

According to this UnSpun.com list, there is somebody out there who would be willing, and I would certainly be willing to pay to see it!

The waiting game...

... is freakin' lame!

So I mentioned that I'm getting a new iMac in my last entry. Unfortunately I can't actually press the place order button until my check comes. I'm really going to be angry if it doesn't happen by this Friday. Mankind knows no wrath like that I will unleash when kept apart from my beloved Apple products.

Especially because I expanded my order to include a new 160GB iPod classic to replace my 80GB one. I don't know why I did though because the MacRumors Buying Guide claims that it's time for a revision the iPod classic line. I imagine they will expand the iPod Touch lineup to include higher capacity models to take the place of the iPod classic line at some point. Solid state memory has come down drastically in price will edging it's way up in capacity so I guess that would be the logical next step since the iPod Touch line has all the cool features like web-browsing and so on. I already have an iPhone so I'm not really in need of that, I just need a higher capacity iPod to hold my compulsively large iTunes Store purchases LOL.

I have considered that it might be a good time to wait on purchasing Apple stuff since the developers conference is next month and Apple has a habit of releasing fun goodies there. I think the only major announcement that will come of it though is the new 3G iPhone Model (which I'll probably pick up as well because I've become a fanboy like that LOL).

I may not even have to make the decision between waiting or not if my Check doesn't make it next week, the WWDC might happen before I have the money to buy any new toys anyway = (.

Yay new Mac on the way...

... boring old Mac until then.

So, I finally completed the last part of my stock sale and managed to score a very good price despite the average decline of the stock market lately. With this new found wealth, I shall purchase a brand new iMac. Seriously, who couldn't love this mug:

It's going to be a 24" iMac and I'm splurging on it so it will have all the goodies. The last time I purchased a brand new Mac for myself was in or around 2001. That's when I bought my beloved iBook (Apple no longer makes iBooks they have been replaced by the Macbook). Me and my iBook had some great times and I had an option to buy an iMac at that time. They had the lamp post iMac's back then which looked like this:

I almost bought one but at the time I planned on doing a great deal of traveling so I wanted a go anywhere, do anything Mac. Thus I bought my iBook laptop instead of the iMac which is a desktop. Oddly enough, now I am doing a lot of traveling but I want a stay at home Mac LOL.

Actually, my obsession with the iMac is that it is powerful enough to stably run the audio recording application I plan to get for it: Logic Studio. I'm buying Logic Express pre-installed on it though so I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it alone will be enough for what I need.

I'm also opting for a Time Capsule. I needed a new router anyway and I might as well have one with a built-in hard drive. It seems logical enough to want an automated backup process. Maybe not for the price Apple is charging, but hey, as long as I'm blowing money I might as well go big right?

At any rate, I thought I would leave you with this wonderful advertisement of the dancing iMac that I didn't buy way back in the day:

Some dirty birdies make cell phones...

... for adults.

So, all I can say is that if we can't cure cancer, but we can make cell phones that allow you to stroke your lovers thigh remotely, then perhaps we should re-evaluate our priorities:

Illness and the finer things...

... make a well-rounded balance.

Wow! I have a blog. I'd almost forgotten. It's been quite a while since I posted here = )

So, today I'm feeling as though I'm dying of the plague, but in general it's been a great month thus far for me. The high sell of a stock grant had me living like a celebrity for a while. I bought a guitar that I've been lusting after for about 5 years, and the best amp Fender makes to go with it. Then I escaped for the weekend off to a Bavarian village in a $200/night suite watching a cast of actors from WA portray german people, make sausages, and dress funny. What could be better?! Oh, and just for MzThai, I got a pixie stick and screamed Oomah und Oompah Live On! In the middle of the downtown area, nobody understood, but I decided to go downtown in my pajamas with blue hair so I didn't figure I was making a clear statement to begin with.

Oh... I know... how about a 6 week trip to Jamaica! Yep, I'm off to Jamaica from mid June to early August. Earlier this year I went to India and it was a life altering experience for me so I was first in line to hop back on a plane and see another part of the world. Albeit, winter would have been a nicer time to go to Jamaica, but you don't see me complaining. If I have to fry in extreme heat, it might as well be some place nice.

Well, that's pretty much what I'm up to at the moment. I also got around to posting more pictures from my trip to India. Here are a few but I'll get them up in some glossy, beautiful, Mac-user style soon enough so you can all see them. For now you'll have to suffer the best Photobucket has to offer.
